Free polyphonic ring tonesMost free polyphonic ring tones available on the internet are not legal and subject to copyright restrictions. You can however get free polyphonic ring tones to your cell phone. In most of the cases you also need software and cables to transfer the "free ring tones" to your cell phone. These programs and cables arenīt free so there is no such thing as free poly tones :-)How to get free poly tones It is the Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) that enables the creation of polyphonic musical compositions with differnet sounds. Polyphonic means that multiple tones can be played at the same time using instrument sounds drums or electronic piano. To get free polyphonic ring tones compose your own poly tones or use a mp3, AAC or wav ring tone and convert it to midi format. Note that MIDI is a much lower quality sound format than many other formats like the MP3 or WAV. A format change from mp3 or wav to midi degrades the recording. There are also different types of polyphonic ring tones. Polyphonic ringtone level 4 capable phones can play 4 simultaneous notes (Polyphonic ringtone level 16 and 24). |
