Free ring tonesMany free ring tones (MP3) available on the internet are subject to copyright restrictions (illegal) or crap. You can get free ring tones to your cell phone if you compose your own ring tones. If you have a phone with a built in ring tone composer you can also compose your own free ring tones.In most of the cases you also need software and cables to transfer the "free ring tones" to your phone. These things arenīt free so actually there are no such thing as free ring tones :-) Free MIDI ring tones If you compose your own MIDI tones or find free MIDI ring tones on the net you can download them to your cell phone using a cable or IR (infrared) connection. The right software is also needed for sending the ring tones to the cell phone. Nokia and other cell phone brands often have their own phone manager programs (PC Suite) and some of them include multimedia convertors and other prorams to manage ring tones, graphics, wallpapers and themes. There are also many good third party softwares. With these softwares you can change the format of the ring tone, from MP3 to AAC or midi, midi to RTTTL, wav to midi... Note that MIDI is a much lower quality sound format than MP3 or WAV. A format change from mp3 or wav to midi degrades the recording appreciably. MP3 to AAC is fine and you can do this with iTunes. Free MP3 ring tones You can easily find free MP3 songs and tunes with Google. Many people say that there is no "good" way to convert MP3 music to ring tones. MIDI is a much lower quality sound format than MP3 or WAV. A format change from mp3 or wav to midi is going to degrade the recording. There are however numerous "mp3 converters", "midi converters" or "wav converters". Google to find them! Free RTTTL ring tones RTTTL stands for Ring Tone Text Transfer Language and it is a format for coding the notes of a ring tone in a universal format. With a special ring tone convertor program like LogoManager or Nokring RTTTL ring tones can be converted to a new ring tone format and uploaded to your cell phone via datacable or a IR (infrared connection). If you have a cell phone with a built-in ring tone composer you can use a ring tone convertor software to transfer RTTTL ring tones to key press format. It´s quite simple - just enter the key press sequence given to you by the ring tone converter software on your cell phone. |
